Peggy Stahura

My name is Peggy Stahura.  I was born in Gary, IN and attended St. Luke grade school, Emerson High School, and will receive an Associates degree from NW Indiana University in May 2006.  Ted and I have been married for 46 years.  We live in Portage with Ted's younger brother, Tom.  I have worked for National Tube Works and spent 24 years with Tittle's/Basic/Town and Country Corp. as a cashier and later as Accounts Payable Manager.

We have 4 sons and 1 daughter.  All of our children attended Purdue University with 4 receiving degrees and one receiving a Master from Lewis University.  We have 10 Grandchildren ages 6 to 20 (4 girls and 6 boys), and 4 daughters-in-law.  Ted lives in Hugo, MN, and is an EE for Unisys.  Bill lives in Hauppauge, NY, and co-owns Custom Visions Construction.  John lives in Chesterton and is an EE for Superior Engineering.  Mary live in Darien, IL, and is a Programmer for Andrew Corp.  Peter lives in Cave Creek, AZ, and is a Construction Supervisor.  All are active in their home Parishes.

We lived in Portage when Nativity became a Parish.  Two sons were baptized from St. Francis in Lake Station, the third was baptized in the Trailer on the Mall and the last two were baptized in the Cry Room (now Art Room) across from the stage in Nativity's Hall.  My ministries at Nativity include lecturing on Sundays when scheduled and usually every Monday morning, counting the collection, playing the bells for Easter and Christmas for the past 3 years, membership in the Altar and Rosary Sodality (including assisting in cleaning the altar one day a month), Pastoral Council member, kitchen worker, Stewardship Committee and Nativity's prayer group.

I love my parish and am always will to help in any way possible.
